Il porto di Olbia è il principale scalo marittimo della Sardegna grazie alla sua posizione geografica più vicina alla penisola. Per la sua conformazione naturale che lo pone all'interno di un profondo golfo protetto da venti e mareggiate, il porto veniva utilizzato già nel III° secolo a.C. dai Romani.
In punta all’Isola Bianca, un lungo braccio artificiale in mezzo al mare dove attraccano i traghetti passeggeri e merci e le grandi navi da crociera, è stata costruita la Stazione Marittima che svolge servizio passeggeri e accoglie vari uffici.
Essa è costituita da quattro edifici a pianta circolare, intersecati tra di loro: la stazione marittima, il reimbarco, la torre uffici e l’edificio impianti tecnologici.
La struttura in elevazione di tutti i corpi di fabbrica è in cemento armato in opera e le fondazioni sono su pali infissi.
Le tamponature sono realizzate con pannelli prefabbricati in c.a. a superficie lavata.
The port of Olbia is Sardinia’s main seaport because it is the one closest to the peninsula. Due to its natural shape, inside a deep gulf sheltered from the winds and the tides, the port was already been used by the Romans in the third century B.C.
The Maritime Station, which provides passenger services and houses several offices, was built at the tip of Isola Bianca, a long artificial arm stretching into the sea where the passenger and goods ferries and the cruise ships dock.
It consists of four buildings with a circular layout, intersecting one another: the maritime station, the reloading, the office towers and the technological systems building.
The aboveground structures of all the buildings are in reinforced concrete cast in situ and the foundations are on driven piles.
Plugging is with surface-washed prefabricated reinforced concrete panels.
